Studies on the Biosynthesis of Extracellular Proteases by Bacteria
نویسنده
چکیده
Apparently the extracellular protease of S. marcescens is present in protein- or protein derivative-free media only when the conditions favor an abundant growth and bacterial conglomerates are formed, which possibly could be explained by assuming that the proteins of dead bacteria or proteic metabolic products act as inducers of protease formation. Dilute solutions of gelatin induce the production of proteolytic activity after a short period of time and its rapid increase before the initial number of bacteria has been duplicated. Calcium is necessary to preserve the activity of the enzyme formed in synthetic media but not that produced in gelatin.

متن کاملScreening and Isolation of Extracellular Protease Producing Bacteria from the Maharloo Salt Lake
Screening and identification of moderately halophilic protease producing bacteria from different regions of Maharloo, a hypersaline lake in the southern area of Iran, were the objectives of this study. In the preliminary screening, 16 isolates exhibited proteolytic activity on saline skim milk agar. All isolates were able to grow comfortably in the media containing 7-15% of salt. Protease...

متن کاملStudy on Activity and Stability of Proteases from Bacillus Sp. Produced by Submerged Fermentation
Objective: Investigations were carried out to isolate bacteria from saline-alkali soils and determined optimized alkaline protease activity and stability produced by a wild strain of bacillus sp. in submerged fermentation (SMF). Methods: Optimum temperature for enzyme activity in the crude extract was 40 ◦C at a pH between 8.0 and 9.0. The studies on pH stability showed that the enzyme...
